Embracing New Technology
At FRAY Studio, we’ve always been excited by new technology, the stranger, the better. It’s been part of our DNA from the very beginning. We bring creative technologists into the heart of our process, people whose whole job is to stitch fresh tools, experiments, and emerging platforms together in ways that make live shows feel surprising again. This curiosity has led us to some of our most exciting work in live camera effects, especially for music tours, concert visuals and iMAG-heavy shows.
Transforming Live Camera Feeds
Using Notch and TouchDesigner (the real-time effects engine), we take the standard live camera feed and open it up creatively. If all you need is something clean and cinematic, we can keep things subtle. But when a show calls for something bolder, we can transform that same feed into a living piece of video content: stretching it, bending it, drowning it underwater, shattering it like glass, or pushing it into places that feel impossible to achieve live. The performer’s movements become the animation itself, turning the stage into a reactive visual story that feels immediate and alive.
Building Cohesive Visual Worlds
A big part of what makes these looks exciting is how we weave them into the rest of the show. Since we design tour content, projection design, stage video design, concept visuals, and visual content for live shows, we can style the live camera treatments to match video content already in the show. It keeps the world cohesive, so the audience doesn’t just see effects, they feel a unified visual language unfolding in real time.
Leveraging Real-Time GPU Magic
We also make good use of the latest GPU-driven tools. NVIDIA’s live background removal lets us attempt green-screen-style compositing directly on stage, no cloth required. With NVIDIA face tracking, we can attach animations, textures, and reactive effects to performers live, creating those “wait, that’s happening right now?” moments audiences love.
Where We Thrive
If you’re looking for live camera effects, video design, or any form of crafted visual story telling for the stage, this is where we thrive: making technology feel creative, immediate, and just a little bit magical.
