Fontaines D.C.

FRAY Studio partnered with Auratecture to design and produce the video content for Fontaines D.C.'s headline show at Finsbury Park in 2025, a landmark moment in the band's live touring. Our role spanned the full screen content package: rendered sequences, real-time live camera treatments, and the integration of video with lighting across the stage. The goal was never a generic festival backdrop, but a bespoke visual identity as distinctive and uncompromising as the band themselves.
From the first design conversations, the aesthetic was led entirely by Fontaines D.C. We pulled visual references, textures and colour palettes directly from their album artwork, so that everything on screen read as an extension of the band's identity rather than decoration applied on top of it. That single guiding principle shaped two parallel streams of work — content rendered in After Effects and live camera treatments built in Notch — and kept them speaking the same visual language, whether the audience was watching pre-designed sequences or live imagery of the performance.
The live camera work carried much of the show's character. Bold duotone colour grades referenced the Romance album, while a cyanotype treatment drawn from the palette of A Hero's Death gave key moments a stark, photographic edge. Echo trails introduced movement and smear across the performance, and NVIDIA-powered background removal let us isolate the band in real time and place them within treated environments. Alongside these stylised looks, a cleaner cinematic grade was reserved for the iMag feeds, so the large-format screens could deliver clear, flattering coverage when the moment called for it before shifting back into the treated aesthetic.
The rendered content leaned into the band's iconography. We developed variations on the Fontaines D.C. logo and recurring motifs, including a double-headed pig and bold coloured hearts drawn from the same visual family. Rather than living solely on screen, the hearts were linked directly to the lighting desk and used as strobe effects throughout the show, blurring the line between video and lighting so both departments could hit the same beats as one integrated system.
By grounding every creative decision in Fontaines D.C.'s own artwork, and running rendered content and live camera through the same aesthetic lens, the show's concert visuals became a true visual counterpart to the performance — a fully integrated video design that belongs to this band and this moment.
