FRAY Studio collaborated with Arlo Parks and production designers Cassius Creative to create video content that reflected the intimate, soulful character of the album. The aim was to build a visual world with true analog authenticity, using real textures and imperfections rather than digital effects. Our role was to craft a collection of material that felt handmade, personal and emotionally aligned with Arlo’s performance. The project centered on a curated film shoot built entirely around vintage technology. We sourced a collection of old cameras, monitors and playback units from online auctions, assembling them into a network of cables, adapters and looping signals. This setup allowed us to film objects, textures and live moments through layers of screens, distortion and degradation. A small group of models, found through street casting, added human presence and warmth to the footage, giving the material a sense of candid immediacy. Throughout the shoot, images passed repeatedly through different pieces of equipment, each adding its own character. The result was a library of footage that ranged from soft and legible to blurred, abstract and heavily degraded. These imperfections were embraced rather than corrected, allowing the visuals to carry the unpredictability and emotional texture that analog systems naturally produce. In post production, the material was projected, refilmed and further shaped into a cohesive set of looks for the live show. The focus remained on preserving the authenticity of the process rather than polishing it, allowing the final content to feel rooted in something tactile and real. The outcome is a visual world that supports Arlo Parks’ music with warmth and honesty, capturing the emotional tone of the album in a distinctly analog form.
