007 x SPYSCAPE
FRAY Studio was commissioned by SPYSCAPE to create a large scale projection mapping installation for the exhibition DRIVEN: 007 x SPYSCAPE. Working in collaboration with Curious Space, EON, Aston Martin and Empire, the goal was to build an immersive environment that captured the tension and cinematic energy of a Bond opening sequence.
Aston Martin supplied detailed digital models of one of the franchise’s most iconic cars. FRAY used these to produce simplified three dimensional shells that could be adapted for physical fabrication. These models were then scaled up and turned into full size 3D printed cars, positioned within the exhibition to create the impression of a frozen moment taken from the start of a Bond film. The challenge was to maintain recognisable form and proportion while creating surfaces suited for precise projection mapping.
The visual system relied on twelve concealed projectors working in tandem with Disguise media servers. Every visible part of the vehicles needed to be mapped accurately so that light, motion and graphical textures wrapped cleanly across their surfaces. This allowed the cars to shift from still objects into dynamic, animated elements that appeared to come alive through projection. The result was an experience that blended physical installation with digital illusion, giving visitors a sense of stepping directly into the Bond universe.
The final installation delivered an atmospheric and technically detailed environment that translated the style and excitement of the 007 world into a fully immersive exhibition setting.
